Custody

It is hard enough on a kid when his or her life is torn by divorce, but why make it worse by making them live two lives? I thank God that my dad wanted full custody. With full custody came stability, and the opportunity to heal. In my case I believe that full custody was the closest thing to a normal life that my parents could give to us after the divorce. When it comes down to it however, each family is different; in one case, full custody might be the best thing for the family, an other family though might find that joint custody is better.

  1. Hi Vincent, Jon Tupta here, I think you have some great perspective, you are wise for your years, divorce forces us to grow up faster than we might like. Custody is often one of the worst outcomes of a family brake-up because it causes us to have to make decisions about people that we never could have believed we would have to make. If you have by now read the kids book of divorce it is easy to see that everyones situation is different. the mor efortunate will find sole custody more grounding, I have a couple friends whose parents shared custody and they were able to thrive under those circumstances. Others were under sole custody and were not happy with the situation.
For me the family brake was a source of anger and confusion for me for a long time!
The most important thing that I had to learn was that Divorce does not define me or my life and I am not destined to make the same mistakes.
Another thing that is really important is a constructive hobby ,it is extremely important to channel your energy into something positive that you love.
Well I am done preaching for now,
    Peace and stuff.
    JT.

  2. Hi Jon,
You are right about every family being different. I was writing from my own experience and the few families I know. I recently picked up several books on divorce which I hope will further inform me on future topics that I write about. Thanks for correcting me, I love input from different views which is why I started a blog in the first place.
    Sincerely,
    Vince
